The Salon’s styling team, lead by Creative Director, Elie Gerdak and his Director of Education, best-selling practical do-it-yourself hair book author and renowned colorist, Barbara Lhotan, created fancy updo’s on stage using luncheon attendees as models. The models make-up was done by Enriqué Grant of Elie Elie Salon who also demonstrated hair styling techniques on stage. Also appearing at the lunch were celebrities including; singer Lynn Anderson (Promises, Promises and Big Girls Don’t Cry), actor Larry Hagman (the Festivals’ 78 th Grand Marshal), Tessa Rose Ferrer, daughter of Debby Boone and Gabrielle Ferrer, the reigning Queen Shenandoah LXXVIII, Queen of the Apple Blossoms, Honorary Grand Marshal- Colonel Wesley Lee Fox USMC (Retired), Kelley Washington (Cincinnati Bengals), Robert Jones, Jeff Blake, Otis Smith, Darryl Pounds (NFL), actor Richard Kiel (Moonraker) and Mariah Elizabeth Rice, Mechanicsville, Virginia, a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University.

The Festival is held in Winchester/Frederick County Virginia, in the beautiful and historic Northern Shenandoah Valley, just 75 miles west of Washington, D.C.  A small city with a rural atmosphere, Winchester is within easy driving time from Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, PA, Baltimore, MD and Richmond, VA. Crowds in excess of 250,000 attend the Festival each year. Winchester is also known as the home of singer Patsy Cline.

A portion of the cost of the bracelets went to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation to help fund breast cancer research and awareness. Breast cancer is the leading cancer among American women and is second only to lung cancer in cancer deaths. This year in the United States, 211,240 women and 1,690 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,410 women and 460 men will die from the disease. When breast cancer is found early (and confined to the breast), the chances for survival are the greatest .
